About Me…
My passion is teaching and sharing what I have learned through my blog, writing site Medium, on social media, in the classroom and one-on-one with small businesses.
Over the last 30 years, I have built a successful career as a marketer and manager in the publishing, hospitality, and retail industries including a large charter boat operation, a casual-fine dining restaurant, and Michigan’s largest antiques mall.
Fresh out of Michigan State University’s highly regarded College of Comm Arts with an Advertising degree, I became a publisher with a residential construction trade magazine where I wrote feature articles, directed photoshoots, and created print advertisements.
After some time on my own, I returned my roots and my family’s businesses are still a big part of my life. Bay City Boat Lines just completed its 25th season and the Bay City Antiques Center has been going strong since 1989.
Over the last few years, I have begun sharing my experience with younger generations. Currently, I am a faculty member at Saginaw Valley State University, where I earned my MBA, and at Northwood University. where I regularly teach courses in marketing, advertising strategy, management and family business. I am a curious, lifelong learner who loves to master new subjects.
I also manage marketing for non-profit organizations and have planned, chaired and marketed many successful fundraising events.
Currently open to freelance projects in the areas of content creation, design, and marketing for non-SBDC clients, and teaching assignments in higher education.
